Galeria Núcleo announces the opening of the Latin American call for entries to select 5 contemporary jewelers, one from each participating country: Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico, for solo exhibitions throughout 2027.
This call for entries is part of the development of the book "The Contemporary Jewelry Movement in Latin America," and expands its reach by creating, at Galeria Núcleo, a physical platform for visibility, thought, and circulation of works by Latin American jewelry artists.
Call for Entries Theme
The Contemporary Jewelry Movement in Latin America
Inspired by the BJW book, the theme guides a curatorship that seeks to highlight: the narrative and cultural strength of materialities; the plurality of individual poetics; the relationships between territory, identity, ancestry, and experimentation; jewelry as a language that shifts boundaries and creates new perceptions of the body, the object, and the world.
The curatorship will evaluate how each proposal dialogues with the contemporary vision of Latin American jewelry, in line with Galeria Núcleo's mission to deepen narratives and expand signature practices.
Who Can Participate / Eligibility
Artistas joalheiros: maiores de 18 anos;
Residentes em Brasil, Argentina, Chile, Colômbia ou México; com produção autoral em joalheria contemporânea;
Available to participate in the in-person exhibition in São Paulo in 2027
What the call for entries offers
Each selected artist will receive:
Solo Exhibition at Galeria Núcleo (2027)
A full exhibition dedicated to the artist, including curatorship, setup, and technical assistance from the team.
Financial Incentive
Galeria Núcleo offers R$ 3,000.00 (three thousand Brazilian reais) as support for the artist's in-person visit to São Paulo during their exhibition.
Commercialization of Works
As obras permanecerão disponíveis para venda na Galeria ao longo de todo o ano de 2027
Registration Fee
To enable the selection stage and the processing of applications, a one-time fee of R$ 200.00 (two hundred Brazilian reais) will be charged.
Curatorship and Selection
A seleção das(os) participantes será realizada por um comitê composto por: a curadora integrante da comitiva da BJW referente a cada país; Chrissie Barban, idealizadora do Núcleo; e Thiago Freitas, colecionador de joalheria contemporânea.
The selection of artists will be based on the following criteria:
- Adherence to the theme “The Contemporary Jewelry Movement in Latin America”;
- Conceptual strength of the proposal;
- Poetic and aesthetic consistency;
- Technical quality;
- Coherence between narrative, materiality, and research;
- Potential for dialogue with the public and the exhibition space.
Registration / Application
The application must be submitted exclusively online, through the official form, including:
- Personal data;
- Portfolio (max. 15 images);
- Conceptual statement of the research;
- Proposed exhibition intent;
- Brief CV / Resume.

A(o) artista selecionada(o) declara que todas as obras inscritas são de sua autoria.
Cada participante será integralmente responsável pela embalagem adequada e pelo envio das obras.
A Galeria Núcleo poderá utilizar imagens das obras para fins de divulgação e comunicação institucional, em diferentes meios e plataformas.
A participação no presente edital implica a plena concordância com todas as cláusulas aqui estabelecidas.
